These Parameters Are Visible in the App
The measurement with the seca mBCA provides several dozen parameters such as muscle mass, fat mass, water, or phase angle. Some of the most important parameters include:
Body Mass Index (BMI)
The BMI is a first indicator when it comes to assessing weight-related health risks or evaluating nutritional status. However, it does not indicate where the excess weight comes from or what it consists of.
Skeletal Muscle Mass
Adequate muscle mass is the foundation for a healthy body and high quality of life. It protects against injuries in old age and ensures a healthy metabolism, potentially lowering the risk of certain diseases. Keeping muscle mass in the green zone means better physical performance, health prevention, and support in reducing fat.
Segmental Skeletal Muscle Mass
The seca mBCA measures the muscle mass in each arm, leg, and the torso. This allows you to see if there’s an imbalance in the distribution of muscle mass, such as a weak core or leg muscles. Differences can also be observed between the upper and lower body, as well as between the left and right sides.
Fat Mass %
Many people want to reduce fat mass to lower health risks or improve well-being. The fat mass parameter makes weight loss progress measurable and helps to assess whether excess weight is due to increased fat.
Visceral Fat
Unlike subcutaneous fat, visceral fat is located in the abdominal cavity between the organs. This fat deserves special attention because it is metabolically active and associated with cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and various cancers. It’s not just excess weight – it’s a real risk factor.
Body Composition Chart
The Body Composition Chart compares fat mass to muscle mass. The two values are not viewed in isolation but in relation to each other. Someone with high fat and high muscle mass is generally healthier than someone with high fat and low muscle mass. The diagonal line in the middle separates favorable from unfavorable fat-to-muscle ratios.
For someone who is overweight, the goal may be to move the point as close as possible to the “muscle man” in the lower right corner.

How Should I Prepare for a Measurement?
Bioimpedance analysis is a sensitive measurement method and should be performed in such a way that the measurement conditions are reproducible. Someone who measures themselves once before a heavy meal and another time directly afterwards may distort their results. For the most precise and reproducible measurement possible, the following points may be observed:
Take the measurement at the same time of day
Avoid measuring immediately after a meal
Use the restroom before the measurement
Avoid alcohol for 12 hours prior to the measurement
Do not measure immediately after exercise or physical exertion
If you have illnesses or take medications that may affect fluid balance, discuss this with your doctor
How Does the Measurement Work?
The measurement is painless, takes only a few seconds, and works via a weak, imperceptible alternating current. Since the electrodes need skin contact, you must remove shoes and socks. Grasp the hand electrodes firmly – once the measurement starts, it takes just seconds until your results are available.
How Does a Bioimpedance Analysis Look Inside the Body?
The seca mBCA determines body composition using bioimpedance analysis (BIA). A weak alternating current is sent through the body and the electrical resistance – impedance – is measured. Muscles conduct the current better than fat. Based on the measured resistance, the composition of body tissues can be calculated.
Why Aren’t My Home Body Fat Scale Results Sufficient?
Unlike home-use body fat scales, the seca mBCA has been extensively validated in clinical studies with advanced reference methods. For example, muscle mass measurements were compared to full-body MRI, and the high precision was scientifically confirmed.

After you have been measured with the seca mBCA or the seca TRU, the professional who performed the measurement, e.g. your doctor, fitness trainer, etc., can unlock your personal access to seca myAnalytics. You will receive an email with a link that you must use to set a secure password and confirm the terms of use. This link expires after 24 hours. If you would like to receive access later, you can have a new link sent to you via the "Forgot password" function.
How and where do I log into seca myAnalytics?
At www.secacloud.com with your email address and password.
Can I apply for a user account directly from seca?
No, only through providers of body composition analysis (e.g. fitness studio or health care provider) with a seca mBCA or a seca TRU.
What sort of password do I need to choose?
We only allow secure passwords with at least eight characters, including at least one number.
What do I do if I forget my password?
On the login page at www.secacloud.com you will find a link where you can reset your password. You will then receive an email with a link to set a new password.
What do I do if my email address has changed?
Save your new email address in seca myAnalytics. This email address will also be provided to your fitness studio or physician.
What do I do if I no longer want to use seca myAnalytics?
Log in and deactivate your user account via the administration menu. Your data will be deleted completely.
What if I have performed body composition analysis with several providers?
If you have carried out the measurements with a seca mBCA or a seca TRU then all measurement results can be displayed by logging into seca myAnalytics. For example, if you change your fitness studio you can continue your progress measurements in the new studio as long as it is equipped with a seca TRU or a seca mBCA.
Who answers questions about my body composition analysis?
If you have any further questions about your body composition, please contact the person who performed your body composition analysis, for example your trainer, doctor, or nutritionist.
seca does not provide any advice on body composition.
Can I compare myself with other body composition analysis or with my own body-fat scale?
The seca mBCA and seca TRU have undergone a unique clinical validation, compared to gold standard procedures, and this validation has not been carried out to this standard by any other manufacturer. The sensitive measurement technique with hand-held electrodes and vapor-deposited foot electrodes is also unique. The formulas that calculate the parameters from the measured body resistances are also customized to the hardware. For this reason, only seca body composition analysis can be compared with one another.
Several consumer tests of commercially available body-fat scales have also shown that their measurements are inaccurate and unreliable. Most of these devices only measure the legs (no hand electrodes), they are not validated, or the calculation formulas are based on statistical values that are derived only from body weight. If you want real and reliable measurement results for muscle and fat mass then a body composition analysis with the seca TRU or the seca mBCA is a must!

Who has access to my personal data?
In addition to you, the person who did the measurement for you, e.g. your doctor, nutritionist, or trainer has access to your data and measurement results. seca or their representatives do not have access to your personal data.
Where is my data be stored?
The measurement results and data are transferred from seca TRU or seca mBCA to the seca Cloud, which uses the ISO-certified servers of Amazon Web Services. All data is encrypted and can only be viewed by the authorized persons using current security technologies. seca's cloud solution meets the strict European and US data protection guidelines:

The basic license for seca myAnalytics is free of charge.
