The interpretation of the BMI according to World Health Organization (WHO) criteria:

BMI values under 18.5 indicate underweight, values between 18.5 and 25 are within the range of normal weight, values between 25 and 30 point to overweight and values above 30 point to obesity.

 

Underweight: < 18.5

Normal weight: 18.5 – 24.9

Overweight: 25 – 29.9

Obesity: ≥ 30

Severe obesity: ≥ 40
